QA/QC Manager
Role summary
The QA/QC Manager will lead and manage all quality assurance and quality control functions for a major complex construction project, ensuring works meet the highest standards of safety, durability, and performance. The role oversees compliance with design intent, technical specifications, and statutory regulations, while driving a right-first-time culture to support programme milestones and a seamless handover.
Core Responsibilities
Develop and implement the Project Quality Plan, aligned with trade contractor quality plans, for all construction works (all packages).
Procure and monitor trade contractor Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for all packages, particular attention to critical elements such as long-span steel, frame construction, roof systems, specialist MEP, facades.
Coordinate with design/engineering consultants/contractors to resolve complex interfaces such as roof-to-bowl, MEP penetrations, faade systems.
Lead material inspections off and on site (structural steel, precast, envelope and cladding, specialist packages).
Manage NCRs with construction team, root-cause investigations, and corrective/preventive actions.
Conduct regular quality audits of subcontractor works across substructure, superstructure, MEP, envelope and fit out.
Consult with specialist suppliers for compliance of all technical packages such as floodlighting, PAVA, scoreboards, security, and spectator safety systems.
Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, BS/EN codes, stadia green guide and relevant UEFA/FIFA venue standards.
Supervise with construction team support snagging/de-snagging and sectional handovers aligned to programme.
Manage collation and submission of as-built records, O&M manuals with specialist document control package contractor, and certification for final handover.
The Profile
Level of Education (Minimum)
Bachelors degree or appropriate industry qualification in relevant field preferred
Work Experience (years)
5+ years in QA/QC for large, multi-package projects; venue or complex long-span structures experience desirable.
Functional Experience
Mandatory: Project Quality Plan development, ITP setup and control, material approvals, audit and NCR management, handover documentation.
Sectoral Experience
Mandatory: Main-contractor delivery with multi-discipline coordination of consultants and contractors. Arena experience preferred.
Abroad/UK Experience
Preferred: Proven knowledge of UK Building Regulations, BS/EN standards, and sports stadia facilities (UEFA/FIFA).
Management Experience
Mandatory: Leading QA/QC teams and managing specialist subcontractors and third-party testing agencies.
Foreign Language
English: C1C2 professional proficiency.
Technical Know-How / Certificates
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and UK regulatory frameworks; familiarity with sports-facility green guide compliance.
Valid CSCS and SMSTS certification; Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Quality systems and tools: Aconex/ACC (BIM 360)/Procore, Zutec/SnagR/FieldView, Bluebeam Revu; model review (Navisworks/Revizto).
Software/Tools
QA/QC software (SnagR, FieldView, BIM 360 Field or similar); MS Office; basic BIM/digital design platform familiarity.
Behavioural Competencies
Leadership presence; ability to manage large QA/QC teams and influence stakeholders.
Proactive problem-solving with a right first time mindset; high attention to detail.
Strong communication for client/consultant and subcontractor engagement; resilience in fast-track environments.
Technical Competencies
In-depth knowledge of complex construction methods: bowl structures, long-span roofs, specialist fit-out, MEP systems.
Familiarity with sports stadia standards, BS/EN codes and UK Building Regulations.
Expert in ITPs, material approvals, defect management, and audit processes for multi-package projects.
Strong understanding of complex MEP integration, acoustics, and fire engineering compliance.
