Key Responsibilities: · Ensure compliance with Building Act 1984 and Building Regulations for high-risk and complex developments through plan appraisals, inspections, and enforcement actions. · Work alongside the Building Safety Regulator within a multi-disciplinary team to regulate higher-risk buildings. · Investigate and address dangerous structures, unauthorised works, demolitions, and complaints, taking enforcement action when necessary. · Provide technical advice and guidance to stakeholders, ensuring compliance through inspections and assessments. · Supervise and support team members, delegating tasks and mentoring junior staff. · Maintain strong relationships with external agencies, contractors, and internal departments. · Promote a customer-focused service, exploring new techniques and improving service efficiency. · Maintain professional registration and CPD compliance while ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 and Council regulations. Requirements: · Class 2A - 3H Registered Building Inspector status with the Building Safety Regulator. · Degree in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience. · Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB) with evidence of CPD compliance. · Extensive experience in Building Control, managing complex caseloads, including new applications, regularisations, and reversions.
