The Role
As a Paddock Steward, you will control and supervise the conduct of all licensed persons, including trainers, within the paddock area. You will help enforce the highest standards of greyhound welfare, maintain paddock cleanliness to the highest level, and support the smooth running of race meetings.
You will also assist the racing office to ensure full compliance with Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) Rules of Racing and local operational regulations.
Key Responsibilities
14. Ensure cleaning schedules are completed and kennels/paddock areas remain clean and tidy
15. Place integrity and welfare at the heart of all tasks
16. Assist with kennel procedures in line with GBGB Rules of Racing
17. Communicate effectively with the paddock team and racing office during race meetings
18. Build strong working relationships with stewards, trainers, and kennel staff
19. Scan microchips and check ear marks and racing jackets to verify greyhound identity
20. Maintain strict security and control of the kennel area
21. Support greyhound welfare and safety around the track during races
22. Learn to accurately mark up greyhounds for new registrations
23. Assist with sample collection procedures when required
24. Maintain a safe working environment in line with risk assessments
25. Adhere to PPE guidelines and wear full uniform at all times
26. Report issues and maintenance concerns promptly
