About The Role
What You'll Be Doing
* Lead the inorganic section and support overall lab excellence;
* Manage day‑to‑day activities, staff workloads, recruitment, and personal development reviews to ensure high performance and customer needs are met.
* Lead analytical method development, validation, and implementation of innovative technologies to ISO 17025 standards.
* Oversee UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation maintenance, including audits, non‑conformances, proficiency testing, quality control, document systems, and assessment visits.
* Authorise laboratory reports, manage instrumentation service contracts, maintenance schedules, stock/supplies, and sub‑contracted work.
* Champion health & safety standards, conduct inspections, and collaborate with customers, the Quality Manager (as Deputy), and the EFW Laboratory Manager on best‑practice monitoring and continual improvement.
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience leading laboratory teams in analytical/inorganic chemistry, ideally in environmental, waste, or energy sectors.
* Strong knowledge of UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation processes, method validation, quality management systems, and proficiency testing.
* Technical expertise in inorganic analysis, instrumentation management, and method development/innovation.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and people‑management skills with a proactive approach to health & safety and compliance.
* Relevant qualifications in chemistry/analytical science (degree or equivalent) and experience with data integrity/report authorisation.

Benefits
