Job Title: Quilting Machine Operator
Reports To: Director

Role Purpose
The Quilting Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of quilting machinery, ensuring products meet quality and customer specifications. Beyond machine operation, this role includes managing raw material stocks, monitoring finished product levels and coordinating dropship deliveries. The position is critical to ensuring uninterrupted supply and smooth production flow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quilting Machine Operation
● Operate quilting machines according to production schedules.
● Adjust machine settings to achieve required quality standards.
● Drive forklift to unload fabric, wool and other materials (forklift training/license can be provided and paid for by Putnams).
● Unload deliveries of wool and fabric into storage areas and onto the quilting machine. This can be quite physical.
● Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance.
● Report breakdowns or faults immediately.
● Keep production logs and record output against targets.
2. Quality Assurance
● Conduct regular visual and technical checks on quilted products.
● Identify defects and take corrective action.
● Maintain consistent standards across all production runs.
● Assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and reduce waste.
3. Raw Materials & Stock Control
● Monitor and track stock levels of cotton, wool, packaging, and consumables.
● Forecast material requirements based on production schedules.
● Deal directly with suppliers to replenish materials in a timely manner.
● Carry out stock counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
4. Finished Product Management & Dropship
● Ensure adequate stock of finished products to meet customer demand.
● Coordinate direct shipments to customers (dropship model).
● Oversee packaging, labeling, and shipping documentation.
● Liaise with logistics and courier partners to guarantee timely deliveries.

Hours
* Hours: 08:45–16:45 Monday to Friday
* 2 x 10-minute paid tea breaks
* 1 x 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.53 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
