About the Role
We are a law firm based in Glasgow, specialising in immigration, family and personal injury law. We provide services to a wide range of clients throughout the UK and overseas. To meet growing demand, the firm is seeking an a Trainee Solicitor to join our team.
Working Pattern:
This is an in person role. Hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday with an hour lunch.
Please note, that a traineeship will be offered after successful completion of a three-month probation period.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Trainee Solicitor to join our team. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, supported by senior members of staff, in a variety of immigration applications, asylum claims and appeal work.
Duties
Throughout the two year traineeship, duties will expand to include the following:
* Managing full caseload of immigration, asylum and appeal matters.
* Meeting with clients to progress cases and eventually run matters from start to finish.
* Assessing evidence and preparing written submissions to the Home Office and Immigration & Asylum Tribunal.
* Corresponding with clients and third parties in order to progress cases.
* Attending at Immigration & Asylum Tribunal, Sheriff courts (2nd year only).
* Perform general office duties as required.
* Undertaking continuous training and professional development in the field of immigration and to meet TCPD requirements set by the Law Society of Scotland.
Essential
* Candidates must have successfully completed LLB in Scots Law and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice and be able to enrol as a trainee solicitor with the Law Society of Scotland.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) is essential.
* Excellent organisational abilities with keen attention to detail.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
