Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Private Patient Billing and Credit Control team as a Consultant Account Specialist. The successful applicant will require strong communication skills and possess a methodical approach to query investigation and process improvement. They will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Consultant billing accounts and ensuring that strong working relationships are developed and maintained with all service users. They will be responsible for all matters relating to account management and will liaise with the Billing and Credit Control, Service Improvement, Data quality and Coding teams along with the Consultant Liaison officer to ensure that accurate bills are produced and collected in line with department SLA’s.
Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of consultant accounts, account setup and maintenance.
* Investigate billing accuracy, manage queries and debt escalations of consultant billing activity.
* Work independently in a proactive manner to maximise activity on the account and develop the portfolio to achieve billing and debt targets.
* Develop relationships across the Private Care Directorate and collaborate with teams to develop the Consultant billing offering and achieve all KPIs.
* Work collaboratively with Credit Control, Billing Managers and Team Leaders to identify query trends and implement remedial actions to prevent delays in payment of consultant funds.
* Lead and monitor the business‑critical professional fees payment processes each month, ensuring accurate download, reconciliation, comparison and calculation for senior management authorisation before submission to SBS.
* Ensure payments are processed successfully, efficiently and accurately.
Key Activities
* Lead fortnightly cross‑department Consultant meetings to identify key risks or trends and develop a remedial plan to maintain service levels.
* Create and review the Consultant dashboard and other monthly and annual reports to provide accurate reporting on consultant payment, invoice and debt activity.
* Maintain the consultant billing standard operating procedures and training guides, ensuring adherence.
* Conduct regular reviews of billing error queries and highlight training development opportunities.
* Establish and maintain good relationships and communication with consultants, the Directorate and the wider Trust, fostering a culture of staff involvement in service delivery and target achievement.
