About the role….
An exciting opportunity has become available to be part of an established team within the Older Persons Team. The post is based at Birtley Villas, Birtley will play a key role in delivering a comprehensive, customer focused and responsive sheltered housing service.
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual with a passion and commitment to support older people to maintain their independence and remain in their home. You will have a wealth of experience in assisting customers in a wide range of situations, a strong commitment to excellent customer care, equality, diversity and inclusion. You will be an excellent communicator both verbally, in writing and be able to present confidently to groups of customers.
Day to day you will be involved in writing and monitoring of individual support plans, welfare checks, dealing with housing queries and responding to emergencies on site.
To be successful in the role you will need to have calm, reassuring and empathetic approach, excellent time management skills, a high level of resilience and be comfortable working on your own initiative.
You will be responsible for facilitating social activities on the scheme and helping residents to integrate into the wider community therefore the ability to motivate and engage residents is important.
As you will be working directly with vulnerable people you must have an awareness of Safeguarding and Health and Safety regulations.
Previous experience of working in older people services or supported living is desirable. It would also be beneficial if have experience of responding to emergency situations.
There is no responsibility to deliver personal care as part of the role, however you may be required to provide light cleaning duties in communal areas.
The successful applicant will be required to live on site in the property provided and will receive a staff discount on their weekly rent.
