Why are we recruiting?
PayPoint operates a retail network of over 30,000 local shops through which we deliver a wide range of services to local communities. We manage and settle over £10 billion of omnichannel payments every year. We are embarking on a modernisation of some of our settlement and billing systems thus ensuring that payments from our retailers to our clients and vice versa continue to be managed in an efficient and seamless manner.
We are now looking for a Business Central Engineer to join the team that creates and deploys the technology which supports our Billing & Settlement service.
What will you be doing?
As the Business Central Engineer at PayPoint, you will help part of an in-house Business Central development team, reporting directly to Lead Business Central Engineer. You will work on delivery tasks for Business Central projects, support ongoing support work and help the team maintain high quality configurations and deployments.
Responsibilities of the role
Take a hands-on role in implementing Business Central customisations and configurations under guidance from the Senior BC Developer
Convert user stories and technical tasks into development and configuration work in Business Central and VS Code
Support data migration activities and validate migration mappings and scripts
Create and maintain basic deployment artefacts and support CI pipelines in Azure DevOps
Assist with unit testing, defect fixes and UAT support for business users
Help document technical changes and share knowledge within the team
Maintain good source control practices and follow the team development guidelines
What would we like from you?
This role requires strong knowledge of Dynamics NAV or Business Central development or support experience. You will be expected to contribute quickly to in flight projects, learn the PayPoint Business Central installation and support the Senior BC Developer and delivery team. You should be a self-starter, comfortable working remotely and keen to develop your Business Central skills.
What is essential for the role?
2+ years practical experience with Dynamics NAV or Business Central development or support
Experience with AL and VS Code or prior C/AL experience and willingness to work in AL
Basic SQL Server skills for data interrogation and simple ETL tasks
Familiarity with Git for source control and Azure DevOps boards for work items
Practical tester mindset and attention to detail for unit and regression testing
Good verbal and written communication and a collaborative team attitude
Ability to follow and apply development standards and code analyser rules
It would be great if you already have…
Experience of data migration into Business Central
Basic knowledge of web APIs and integration patterns
Some exposure to finance processes such as GL, AP and AR
Experience of CI pipelines and deployment artefacts
Relevant Dynamics 365 training or certification
