Due to business growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our dedicated testing and assembly departments. This role is ideal for entry level graduates and persons who have an interest in chemistry and analytics.
You will support internal team members across multiple departments, primarily in the preparation and testing of ultra-high accuracy water sensors, creating test fluids and carrying out time-based tests of the sensors to defined processes. Along with this you will support the assembly team to prep and assemble sensors where required.
You will need to be precise, clean and very tidy in your work and able to take time to obtain data sets and analyse data to assess for pass or fail results. You will need to be pro-active to assist with the members of the team for different tasks.
Duties Include
Testing of sensors:
* Prepare calibration liquids ensuring high accuracy and cleanliness. Working safely and in line with COSHH assessments.
* Prepare and operate test equipment such as the fume cabinet and Keysight test instrumentation.
* Perform testing tasks in line with documented process to ensure sensors meet defined criteria.
* Take time to monitor and record results accurately, the tests can be lengthy and requires patience.
* Analyse data in excel and data systems, review results and identify pass or fail results.
Assembly Of Sensors
* Where required assist production with bulk tasks such as material prep, cleaning of 3D printed parts, and component assembly.
* Use of small hand tools
* Set up and use the laser engraving system to engrave key product information onto components
* Cover for production during holidays and absences within the limits of skillset and training.
Instrumentation Assembly & Test Support Requirements
* Role requires physical activity and manual handling of goods, chemicals and equipment. PPE such as safety footwear is required and provided.
* Technical knowledge/skills or a strong interest in technical equipment; must be able to learn a variety of product-specific operations.
* Able to work under pressure and manage priorities effectively.
* Highly organised and accurate, able to plan ahead and manage projects with precision.
* Self-motivated and capable of managing own workload individually or as part of a team.
* Fast learner, eager to acquire new skills and technical knowledge.
* Team player with good decision-making and interpersonal skills.
* Good IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and various third-party software.
* Analytical, able to review data and identify pass or fail results.
* Patient, able to keep focused during long periods of data gathering.
Beneficial But Not Essential
* Soldering and electrical experience.
* Previous assembly experience.
* Precise product testing experience.
* MSDS awareness and COSHH safety.
