Your new role
Are you an experienced accounts professional looking for a flexible, part-time role in a beautiful rural setting near Thirsk? Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their small, friendly finance team.Working as part of a close-knit team of three and reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you’ll support a diverse portfolio of businesses including farming, rural sporting interests, interior design, and investments. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same.Experience in rural or multi-entity businesses is a bonus, but not essential.
Key responsibilities:
1. Sales and purchase ledger processing
2. Bank reconciliations
3. VAT returns
4. Maintaining stock records
5. Managing the asset register (additions, disposals, depreciation)
6. Payroll processing for seasonal staff (training provided)
7. Monthly management reporting
8. Balance sheet reconciliations
9. Departmental cost analysis
10. Weekly cash flow preparation
11. Budget support and year-end accounts assistance
12. Journal entries and nominal ledger work
13. Office for National Statistics returns

What you'll need to succeed
14. Ideally, AAT or part-Qualified CIMA/ ACCA or QBE will
15. Experience of production of management accounts (essential)
16. Advanced Excel
17. Knowledge of Sage 50 accounts and payroll
18. VAT knowledge, UK and Foreign
19. Import/Export Experience
