Job Title: Development Technician
Location: Crewe (Factory-based)
Hours: 40 hours per week (8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday)
Reporting to: Technical Sales Development Manager
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Development Technician to join our team at D&M Packaging. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with technical processes, thrives on problem-solving, and wants to make a real impact in developing and improving products.
In this role, you'll play a key part in driving innovation, supporting technical trials, and ensuring our products and processes meet the highest quality and compliance standards. You'll be working closely with our Technical Sales Development Manager, Operations, and Compliance teams, while also having the chance to engage with suppliers and contribute to exciting new developments.
What You'll Be Doing
* Technical Development – Monitor, test, and report on factory trials (customer projects, supplier developments, or process improvements), ensuring accurate documentation in line with QMS.
* Product Support – Assist in creating and maintaining technical data sheets, product literature, and internal specifications.
* Compliance & Quality – Ensure documentation for food contact materials is up to date with legislation and support BRC compliance requirements.
* Problem Solving – Support investigations into quality issues and help identify solutions.
* Supplier Engagement – Meet with suppliers to stay informed on new materials and innovations to benefit our customers.
* Innovation – Contribute ideas for improving existing products and developing new opportunities to support business growth.
* Lab Work – Use and maintain laboratory equipment to test competitor materials and conduct analysis.

What We're Looking For

* A background in technical, laboratory, or manufacturing environments (experience in packaging, food contact, or quality is a bonus).
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing and reporting.
* Confidence in handling data, technical documents, and compliance requirements.
* A problem-solving mindset with the ability to investigate and support solutions.
* Good communication skills to work across teams and with external suppliers.
* A proactive, curious, and adaptable attitude—keen to learn and contribute new ideas.

Pay: £25,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
