Foundation Engineer

Our client is a diverse award-winning structural engineering consultancy looking for a talented and self-motivated Engineer with both expertise in Geotechnical and Structural Engineering making themselves a value asset in foundation design. The successful candidate will need to be ready to work in a fast-paced environment and make a difference within a reputable design consultancy. If you enjoy working across multiple projects simultaneously, have a passion for large scale residential development and enjoy working one on one with Clients to build strong lasting relationships - this is the Consultancy for you.

Work focuses in the residential sector collaborating with Developers to deliver new housing schemes across the UK with innovative designs, promoting economic designs and always striving to look around problems and find the best solutions to suit Clients..

This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to challenge themselves not only in engineering but also provide a unique opportunity to help mould a growing engineering consultancy. Candidates will need to show a willingness to work as a team, a strong drive for quality in all work, aid the education of junior engineers and demonstrate self-motivation to keep up with the ever-changing tasks of the day while meeting tight deadlines.

In order to be considered for this engineering role the ideal candidate will have:

- A minimum of 5 years experience in engineering, a minimum of 3 years in the residential sector working with housing developers.

- A minimum 2:1 Bachelors Degree or preferably a Masters Degree.

- Excellent understanding and application of design standards and principles, including British Standards, Eurocodes and Building Regulations.

- Confidence and experience to working in both geotechnical and structural engineering design principles.

- Wealth of experience and understanding geotechnical design, foundation assessments and applying geotechnical and structural engineering principles to deliver suitable and constructable foundation solutions to residential schemes.

- Good understanding of geotechnical principles and relation to foundation design.

- Ability to review ground investigation reports, provide feedback on foundation requirements and additional testing required to provide more support to Clients as they start new development sites.

- Ability to read topographical surveys and apply to foundation assessments.

- Experience and understanding of detailed foundation design for large scale housing developments.

- Confidence and experience to deliver on site presence and monitoring site activities.

- Expertise in proposing additional geotechnical investigations to value engineer foundation strategies based on site geotechnical properties.

- Basic skills in AutoCAD 2D.

- Experience and interest in working in the residential sector.

- Ability to work effectively independently and within a small team.

- Organised individual with the ability to multi-task to be able to work to timescales and meet deadlines.

- Clear communication skills both written and verbally to specialist and non-specialist personnel to convey engineering principles and implications to construction.

- Problem solving.

- Attention to detail with the motivation to get things right the first time.

- Passion for learning and developing their skills as well as teaching others.

- Good computer skills including Excel, Word, Tekla Tedds and Masterseries.

- Driving license and access to a car.

- CSCS card.
