We are looking to recruit a Data Activity Clerk / Receptionist for the Cancer Care Haematology Unit based at Stoke Mandeville with cross site working with Wycombe Hospital.
This post is being offered to a suitable candidate with an interest in haematology/oncology. The successful candidates will be part of a team which is responsible for the provision of data input and supporting the reception area. The successful applicants should have good knowledge base of IT systems used within the hospital, however training can be given.
Main duties of the job
1. Precise data entry for appointments, nurse activity, treatment activity etc.
2. Welcome patients, visitors and trust staff. Provide receptionist service via telephone, email etc.
3. Make, amend and cancel outpatient appointments as necessary.
4. Attend to patients on arrival and liaise with the medical staff to ensure that correct data is recorded on the Careflow system.
5. Register new patients and ensure patient details are correct.
6. Deal sensitively with large numbers of telephone queries from patients/relatives, General Practice surgeries and medical / administration staff at all levels.
7. Working together with the administration staff to assist in the preparation of clinics.
8. Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients who did not attend their appointments, either by telephone or letter in order to facilitate another appointment.
9. Arrange hospital transport and interpreters for patients attending the clinic.
10. Flexibility for covering illness/annual leave with team members, including cross-site cover.
11. General clerical duties i.e. filing, faxing, photocopying, printing/ posting letters

27. Able to work on own initiative and as part of team to ensure cross cover of all aspects of work
