HGV Technician
Location: Berkshire
Working Hours: 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum DOE
Our client is a long‑established automotive and commercial vehicle service provider with a modern, well‑equipped workshop supporting both customer vehicles and a diverse internal recovery fleet. Known for quality workmanship, professional standards, and consistent weekday hours with no weekend rota, they are currently looking for an HGV Technician to join their expanding team. The successful candidate will carry out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, and complex repairs across a range of heavy commercial and recovery vehicles, ensuring all assets remain safe, compliant, and roadworthy.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair faults on HGVs, recovery trucks, and other commercial vehicles.
Conduct routine maintenance, PMI inspections, and pre‑MOT checks to regulatory standards.
Liaise with drivers and operators to understand reported defects and confirm repair requirements.
Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and service documentation.
Maintain a clean, organised, and safety‑focused working environment.
Support, guide, and mentor apprentices when required. Key Skills and Experience
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (NVQ / City & Guilds / IMI)
Solid background in maintaining, servicing, and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles.
Full UK Driving Licence (HGV entitlement desirable but not essential).
Strong mechanical knowledge, proactive attitude, and high attention to detail. Benefits
