Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust seek to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist in Eating Disorders, to join our newly established Severe Eating Disorders Service at the Tile Hill Health Centre, Coventry
This is a new post, which will form part of the new Severe Eating Disorders Service. The successful applicant will be involved in direct clinical care and providing clinical leadership to a multi-disciplinary team which includes specialist nurses, nurse therapists, clinical psychologist, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers, and peer support workers. There will be a limited amount of cross-cover for the inpatient consultants, who are based in the 15-bed inpatient unit at the Aspen centre in Warwick.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of outpatients, including the management of psychiatric co-morbidity and medical complications of eating disorders. They will provide clinical leadership to the outpatient team and medical support to non-medical members of the team. They will share in providing cross-cover for the inpatient consultants when they are on leave. The postholder will work closely with the other outpatient consultants and within a fully integrated multidisciplinary team of specialist nurses, nurse therapists, clinical psychologists, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers, and peer support workers. Medical staff will generally work alongside non-medical members of the team to manage outpatients, providing support to therapists and assessing and treating psychiatric and medical complications and comorbidity.
The postholder will provide consultation and advice to colleagues in primary and secondary care on the management of patients with eating disorders and take part in assessments under the Mental Health Act where appropriate. The postholder will liaise with primary care, acute hospitals, crisis and home treatment teams and community mental health teams.

Criteria to apply include GMC registration and inclusion on the specialist register in in Mental Health. The postholder must also be approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act and eligible to be an Approved Clinician at the time of appointment.
