We are recruiting for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to commence after Half Term and work up until Christmas, however, it could be further extended. You will need to be Team Teach trained this is an essential requirement for the role and you will have previous experience in a similar role as a Teaching Assistant working in a special educational needs environment and be comfortable with undertaking personal care if required. The school is for students with special educational needs aged 11 to 19 and therefore you will need a Child and Adults enhanced DBS, where students are at the heart of everything they do there. The school is part of a Trust within Bradford and made up of Secondary, Primary and SEN. As a Teaching Assistant specialising in SEN you will support students with additional needs, including those requiring personal care, in accessing the curriculum and achieving their full potential. The position includes implementing behaviour support strategies using Team Teach principles and providing high-quality personal care in a respectful and dignified manner. Key responsibilities: Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with special educational needs Assist with personal care such as toileting, feeding, dressing and hygiene, ensuring dignity and respect at all times Promote independence and self-care skills Support pupils with physical disabilities or medical needs under the guidance of health professionals The Teaching Assistant will use Team Teach strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviour and ensure a safe learning environment. You will follow individual behaviour support plans and risk assessments. Record and report incidents in line with school policy. In the classroom you will assist the teacher in preparing and adapting learning materials and support the students with engaging learning activities, monitor their progress and feedback to the teacher as required. You will maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding procedures at all times and be aware of any comply with policies and procedures relating to the child protection, health and safety and data protection.
