Inclusion Lead
Location: Taunton, Somerset
Contract: Initial 3 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Rate: £49 per hour (Umbrella) (£37 PAYE an hour)
Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Inclusion Lead to champion inclusive education and ensure that every young person in Somerset has access to the support and opportunities they need to thrive. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a tangible difference to learners at risk of exclusion, disengagement, or becoming NEET.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Lead on individual learner cases, coordinating multi-agency support and ensuring timely, effective interventions.
Pathway Planning: Develop personalised education and progression plans reflecting learners’ strengths, interests, and aspirations — including vocational routes and supported internships.
Alternative Provision Oversight: Coordinate and quality assure alternative education placements, ensuring they are purposeful and lead to recognised outcomes.
Post-16 Transition Support: Work closely with careers advisers, colleges, training providers, and employers to ensure smooth transitions and sustained engagement in post-16 destinations.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Contribute to Team Around the Child (TAC) meetings, PEP reviews, and safeguarding discussions to keep education central to all planning.
Attendance & Engagement Monitoring: Track attendance, progress, and wellbeing, intervening early to prevent drop-out or disengagement.
Student Voice & Empowerment: Actively involve young people in decisions about their education and future, promoting confidence, ownership, and self-advocacy.
Skills & Attributes
Strong understanding of NEET prevention strategies and post-16 pathways
Comprehensive knowledge of SEND, safeguarding, and statutory responsibilities
Excellent communication, coordination, and case management skills
Deep commitment to inclusive education and lifelong learning
