Location: Singleton Hospital or Morriston Hospital, Swansea
Band: Band 6
Contract Type: Locum
Salary: £24 - £27 per hour
About you:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Histopathology service within Swansea Bay University Health Board. You will be a motivated and competent HCPC‑registered BMS with proven experience across core histopathology techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform specimen dissection.
2. Undertake microtomy, embedding, and routine histological preparation.
3. Carry out quality control procedures and maintain high laboratory standards.
4. Perform immunohistochemistry using automated platforms.
5. Undertake special stains (manual and automated).
Requirements:
6. HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
7. IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology (or equivalent).
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
9. Full UK right to work.
