Reporting into the Environmental Products Trading function, the Senior Carbon Analyst will build, enhance and optimize all fundamental models, analytical tools and data visualization available across the Environmental Products platform. The research and analysis produced by the Senior Carbon Analyst will directly support our data-driven trading business, as well as our investment and partnerships platform thereby having a direct and significant impact on our strategic direction. Sitting within the Front Office teams in London, the Senior Carbon Analyst will be the point person for all carbon analysis and will need to interact daily with analysts and traders of other commodities desks, notably the Power & Gas teams. The Senior Carbon Analyst will need outstanding analytical skills, as well as strong modelling skills and the ability to easily compute and present complex data. Liaising with our Trading teams and a team of developers, they will need to expand and maintain the unique global fundamental carbon model, so demonstrable experience in building fundamental energy models, supply & demand balances, price forecasting and scenario analysis will be essential in this role. As the scope of the role is wide-ranging, tracking and modelling new technologies, policies and macroeconomic developments that directly impact the cost and efficacy of decarbonisation efforts across the globe is also in scope. Required skills and experience: Strong energy or carbon expertise Strong technical capabilities and experience in building and maintaining fundamental energy models Outstanding analytical, modelling and technical background: experience building and running global fundamental models, S&D balances, price forecasting and scenario analysis Ability to distil high-level trends, macro-and micro-economic factors and specific environmental market developments into key inputs, models and projections, allowing to analyse, model and explain trends and market developments at a granular level Ability to produce and maintain a set of user-friendly tools and documents to be able to visualise and present the output of those models, trends and projections to third parties Engineering, computer science or scientific educational background with a keen interest in new technologies and the overall technological development Exceptional aptitude to code in Python & SQL Ability to contribute to data visualisation outputs and tools such as Tableau London-based preferably
