Job overview

We are looking for an experienced Registered Renal Nurse to support the established ADPKD programme It is essential that you have substantial post registration experience in a Renal care setting, and post- graduation level study including Non-medical Nurse prescribing and APACS. You have experience of providing patient and staff education programmes.

It is essential that you have excellent communication skills, are highly motivated and relish working with a compassionate, caring and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To provide clinical expertise in the management of patient with ADPKD.

To provide a patient education and support service and regular specialist clinic for patients with ADPKD eligible for Tolvaptan therapy.

To provide educational support to the multi-disciplinary team including visiting medical students and trainee doctors within the Renal directorate including for patients with ADPKD eligible for Tolvaptan therapy.

To coordinate and support maintaining the cohorted specialist clinics for patients with ADPKD, Tuberous sclerosis and other renal genetic disorders.

To work with the lead consultant to identify patients with ADPKD who are eligible to receive Tolvaptan

To provide 1-1 education sessions for patients with ADPKD about Tolvaptan, organise and review baseline investigations and run a weekly clinic.

Providing a point of contact to support patients, families and or residential care facilities responsible for patients with Tuberous sclerosis. Providing information in the correct format.

Essential criteria

1. RGN Level one
2. NMC registered
3. First degree or evidence of working towards one (demonstrating graduate attributes)
4. Non- medical Nurse prescriber
5. APACS
6. Recognised renal training programme
7. Continuous professional development
8. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.

Experience

9. Extensive post registration experience
10. Relevant experience at j sister/ charge nurse role
11. Audit and service evaluation
12. Patient education /advice
13. Ability to communicate effectively including active listening, writing, and verbally, with individuals on a one-to-one basis and with groups.
14. Basic IT skills: STHT programmes, data sets, Spread sheets
15. Ability to lead, motivate and develop a professional team
16. Excellent performance management skills.
17. Ability to manage complex workload under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines
18. Persuasion and influencing skills – ability to present ideas and proposals effectively.
19. Highly developed leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills – ability to form positive relationships at all levels
