A Day in the Role A typical day might begin after the team's stand-up, where you give an update on your progress and highlight any blockers. You'll spend the morning designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts with industry-standard tools, integrating them into our CI/CD pipelines. Throughout the day, you'll collaborate with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure the right test coverage across our services. When issues arise, you'll troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, then document what you've learned to help the team. Later in the afternoon, you'll contribute to improving our automation strategy and tooling, recommending enhancements, refining frameworks, and driving continuous improvement. Role Requirements Maybe you have development experience and want to shape the future of testing at the Bank by building automation frameworks that make a real impact. Or you have experience of Test Automation and you're eager to develop your expertise further. Minimum Criteria We're looking for someone who has the following key skills and experience: Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies. Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Java etc. Experience with CI/CD tools and version control systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins). Experience working collaboratively in an Agile environment. Familiarity with Cucumber BDD Essential Criteria We are interested in hearing from candidates who have the following capabilities: A high level of integrity, organisation and self-motivation with a desire for self-improvement Demonstrable experience in test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Karate, SOAPUI, Postman. Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure). Experience using Test Data Tools. Exposure to containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Performance and security testing experience. Desirable Criteria It would also be beneficial, but not necessary, to have some of the following: Knowledge of middleware systems/message queuing systems such as Kafka, IBM MQ, and ACE Knowledge of software architecture technologies such as XBRL, HTML Banking and finance domain experience (understanding regulatory requirements or financial systems is a plus) Please don't hesitate to apply if you don't meet all the essential criteria. Salary and Benefits Information We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. We offer a salary as follows: Leeds circa £37,120 - £42,210 In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below: Currently a non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/80th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/65th) or decrease (to 1/105th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
