Job Advert

At mhs homes, we’re not just about bricks and mortar – we’re about people. We’re proud to be one of Kent’s largest and most respected housing providers, and right now, we’re looking for a passionate and proactive Health and Safety Trainer to help us build and maintain a strong, positive safety culture across the organisation.

The role:

As our in‑house Health and Safety Trainer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our colleagues are confident, capable, and compliant. You’ll deliver engaging training that supports staff competence, reinforces safe working practices, and aligns with our vision of keeping people safe while delivering excellent service. You’ll work closely with our health and safety team, team managers, and wider business to identify training needs, deliver tailored sessions, and help embed best practice into our day‑to‑day work. Where specialist competencies are required, you’ll also liaise with external training providers to source and arrange the right courses — ensuring our people always have access to the training they need.

What we’re looking for

We’re after someone who brings energy and clarity to every session — someone who makes safety relatable and relevant.

You’ll be:

* A confident communicator with experience designing and delivering health and safety training.
* Passionate about people development and workplace wellbeing.
* A strong team player with a ‘can do’ attitude and proactive approach.
* Able to adapt your style to suit different audiences and learning needs.
* Committed to maintaining up-to‑date knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice.

Why mhs homes?

We’re a values‑led, customer‑focused organisation, proud to support over 25,000 people across Kent. We believe in investing in our people, building careers, and creating a safe, inclusive environment for everyone.

We offer:

* A performance based annual bonus + pension contributions matched up to 6%
* 28 days holiday + bank holidays and the option to buy/sell holiday
* Training & Development and opportunities for continuing professional development including regular tool box talks
* A great team of colleagues to work with
* Regular social and charitable events and a range of wellbeing activities
* Enhanced family leave policies
* A really competitive package of flexible employee benefits including a cycle to work scheme
* A fantastic working office environment overlooking the River Medway that’s accessible and inclusive
* Free parking and disabled parking
* Access to two holiday homes in Norfolk and Dorset

We’re a Disability Confident employer. This means if you tell us you have a disability and meet the minimum requirements for the job, we’ll offer you an interview. We can be flexible when assessing people so everyone has the best opportunity to demonstrate they can do the job.

At mhs homes we value equality, diversity and inclusion. We are wholeheartedly committed to the principle of equality of opportunity, both as an employer and as a provider of services. We positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.

For more details read the role profile attached. If you have the essential requirements we look forward to hearing from you.

If you’re passionate about health and safety, thrive on helping others grow, and want to make a difference in a community‑focused organisation — we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help us keep mhs homes a safe place to work and thrive.

Instructions for potential applicants: Please note we’re using an anonymised recruitment process for this role. This means the shortlisting panel will only see personal details or CVs if you’re shortlisted for interview. Therefore, shortlisting will be done based on your application and supporting statement. Please complete all sections fully and refer to the role profile when telling us about your skills and experience.
