Senior Software Engineer Description
CME Group is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to work on our GCP migration initiative .
CME Group has recently agreed a long-term partnership with Google to migrate our technology infrastructure to Google Cloud in a visionary partnership to transform the global derivatives markets through technology with Google themselves investing $1bn of equity in CME.
In this role the selected candidate will join the CME Trade Dissemination product team in Belfast where they will have an opportunity to innovate and lead both the migration and the development of our suite of enterprise applications using Java, cloud and automation technologies.
With the Google Cloud migration along with DevOps and automation as driving forces to maximize customer value, we are looking for an engineer who is excited by the opportunity to hone these kinds of skills toplement their core Java skills. In this role you can expect to work with technologies such Google Cloud Platform, Argo workflows, Kubernetes, Docker and Jenkins to name but a few.
Internal mobility and flexibility are a key part to our agile approach to technology delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving our success and will find opportunities to work in a variety of projects and technologies beyond their initial areas of subject matter expertise.

Principal Accountabilities
9. Be an SME in the domain, contributing to system design and collaborating with various teams to build fit for purpose platforms.
10. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software.
11. Provide mentoring and technical direction to development, helping to identify technical solutions to realize design.
12. pletes research and conducts POCs on new technologies.
13. Participates in CICD development pipelines, contributing to modern test and delivery techniques
14. Take initiative and be responsible for technical solutions to application and cloud challenges.
Essential Criteria
15. Bachelor's degree (with honors) or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute
16. Strong knowledge of core Java skills, with demonstrable experience
17. A strategic mentality, able to propose and articulate solutions toplex technical challenges whilst maintaining a balance against over engineering
18. A critical thinker, with good analysis and investigatory skills with the ability to form good questions in real time
19. Good organization skills, with the ability to multitask and self organize, determining relative priority of work items
Desirable Criteria
20. Experience of financial markets/exchange space and working with financial applications
21. Experience CICD and Cloud operations
22. Experience using Confluence, JIRA, or other Atlassian tools.
