Key responsibilities
• Produce high-quality electrical engineering design across a range of building types and sectors.
• Develop detailed electrical designs including LV distribution, lighting, emergency systems, fire alarms, small power, containment and EV charging.
• Prepare and review calculations, specifications, schedules, and design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, architects, and other design consultants to deliver coordinated and buildable solutions.
• Contribute to renewable energy and sustainability elements of projects, including photovoltaic system design and low carbon strategies.
• Attend project meetings, client meetings, and site visits as required.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and statutory authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), and building regulations.
• Support junior engineers and graduate colleagues through mentoring and guidance.
• Contribute to tender submissions and design fee proposals where required.
What we're looking for
Essential:
• Demonstrable experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy environment.
• Strong working knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant British Standards.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD for design production.
• Experience producing calculations, specifications, and design deliverables.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A methodical approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail.
Desirable:
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Working towards or holding Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status (IET or CIBSE).
• Experience with sustainable and low carbon electrical design.
• Familiarity with Electrical OM, Dialux, Relux, Amtech
• Experience working across multiple sectors including residential, commercial, education, or healthcare.
