The Samson and Lion is located on the Stourbridge canal in Wordsley, a village at the southern boundary of Staffordshire near Amblecote. Wordsley offers local amenities and is a popular stop for canal visitors. The pub sits on a prime canal-side cycle route from Kinver to Brierley Hill.
Pub Layout
Upon entering, the main lounge is to the right and leads to a raised seating area with its own toilet facilities, currently used as the Sunday Carvery area. The trade kitchen is nearby. The bar leads to a canal-side beer garden. To the left of the main entrance is the bar area with fixed and loose seating, a pool table, jukebox and darts area, and WC facilities. A central servery serves both lounge and bar. Outside, there is a canal-side patio—popular with families, locals, walkers, cyclists and tourists. A separate function room is located below the pub; it has its own bar and toilets and can be accessed via the bar or through the cellar to the beer garden. A car park is located to the left of the pub.
Trading Style
The Samson & Lion is a community local, currently drinks-focused with local ales, premium and core beers, a good range of spirits and minerals, and a small catering kitchen capable of small food offerings including Sunday lunches. The venue can provide live entertainment and Sky Sports.

Tie
All drinks categories are tied. For fully funded licensees on long-term agreements, free-of-tie options for certain drinks categories are available in exchange for an annual fee.
Training and Services
* Training: £350.00 (7 Steps to Sales Success, online two-day programme prior to signing a long-term agreement)
* Service Charge Cost: £63.33 per week (Admiral Taverns Premium Maintenance Package; includes compliance support and boiler/cellar repairs, plus e-learning access)
* Zero Business Rates: Nil Rates payable based on small business rates relief; applies to pubs marked with an asterisk

* Annual Rent note: This is the lowest rent figure for a Full Tie; if the tie is reduced, the effective rent via Tie Release Fees will increase
* Security Deposit: As above; includes a credit check as part of the application process
