All About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Health & Safety Coordinator based at our Barrett Steel, Dartford site. In this role, you will work with the site management team, to develop and promote a positive culture across the site; this will include developing and supporting the implementation of the Group Safety Management System; Providing professional support and advice, working with the Operations Director and Supervisors to ensure that all areas of H&S legislation, policy and strategy are implemented at site level. Although the role is based at our Dartford site, travel to other Group sites will be required.
Specific tasks will include:
1. To ensure compliance with Group Policies and with all relevant legislation.
2. To work as part of the site team to develop and monitor the implementation of the Group SMS.
3. To support the implementation of the annual Site Health & Safety Improvement Plan.
4. Act as focal point for site reporting, communication, tracking of all defect reports and H&S improvement actions.
5. Help to identify and share best practices and to foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the business in respect of the overall Health & Safety Management System.
6. Provide guidance and support to operations staff for Risk Assessments, local safe working procedures and incident investigations.
7. To record and analyse incidents and H&S performance, reporting KPIs and communicating performance effectively some of which can be carried out by CCTV review.
8. Ensuring that training and professional qualifications are maintained to ensure ongoing professional competence.

Essential Skills for the role:
9. Hold a NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum requirement (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent would be desirable.)
10. Demonstrate a positive track record attained over a minimum of 2-3 years H & S gained in a manufacturing, engineering, logistics or steel stock holding background in the UK.
11. A full understanding of all the latest H & S regulations in the UK with the ability to influence/guide colleagues at all levels in the business with strong communication skills, including the ability to organise and hold effective meetings.
12. A UK driving license with the ability to also travel to our Reading & Shoreham sites on a weekly basis or as and when required.
