We’re working with a respected higher education institution seeking to appoint a Director of Governance on an interim basis. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for driving governance, compliance, risk management and legal oversight at the highest level of the organisation.
đź’Ą As Director of Governance, you will:
* Lead and develop governance frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best practice.
* Act as Secretary to Council and its key committees, overseeing governance administration and information flow.
* Serve as the institution’s Data Protection Officer, managing compliance, FOI requests and subject access processes.
* Oversee risk management and legal service provision, including liaison with internal audit.
* Provide strategic advice to senior leadership, supporting the delivery of the university’s long-term objectives.
* Lead, mentor and develop a dedicated governance team, embedding a culture of accountability and excellence.
💥 What we’re looking for:
* Degree-level qualification (or equivalent senior-level experience).
* Significant governance expertise within higher education or a similarly regulated sector.
* Demonstrable experience in governance, policy, risk and compliance at executive level.
* Strong track record of committee administration, reporting and executive support.
* Proven ability to lead and inspire professional teams.
* Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
* Substantial knowledge of data protection legislation and requirements.
