About the role

In your role as Sourcing Manager, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Category Manager and Head of Procurement. The key focus is to deliver procurement strategies across various categories for USS.

You will support category managers in engaging with key stakeholders, implementing best practices, creating commercial benefits, and reducing risks for the business.

What you will be doing

As a trusted part of the Finance team, you will:

* Deliver category supplier strategies and roadmaps via sourcing processes such as RFPs, RFIs, and mid-term negotiations
* Manage the delivery of RFPs, ensuring robust requirements, supplier selection, and project management
* Develop strategic procurement strategies to optimize costs and strengthen supplier relationships, aligning with USS strategies
* Manage the procurement cycle from sourcing to contract drafting, driving projects to completion while managing risks and timelines
* Secure best value and economies of scale from supplier expenditure
* Review and negotiate renewals with internal stakeholders, providing commercial support as needed
* Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, enhancing the procurement agenda's credibility and visibility
* Ensure compliance with company guidelines by adopting best-in-class procurement practices

About you

To succeed, you will have:

* Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
* Commercial experience focused on maximizing value and cost reduction, with confident negotiation skills
* Experience managing RFPs across multiple indirect categories; some IT knowledge is advantageous
* Contract and supplier management experience with a commercial focus
* A proactive, forward-thinking approach, capable of driving performance and best practices in a dynamic environment
* Ownership of situations, resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset
* Possession of a CIPS — MCIPS qualification (or working towards it) or equivalent
