Overview
The Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team helping to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation and support the growing role as we address climate change challenges.
You will be responsible for providing strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards, monitor quality, and advise on requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across geographic areas with a diverse asset base.

Team and role responsibilities
Location: South East MEICA Team. You will report to the MEICA Team Leader, act as technical leader on MEICA activity, participate in responses to flood incidents, provide technical mechanical support and direction to team members, and liaise with a wide range of business partners. You may lead on actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
Experience and skills (essential)
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering-related statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Experience leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge and experience of root cause analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.
* Educated to minimum HNC/D or degree level in an appropriate mechanical discipline.
* Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Role requirements and environment
You can be based at listed locations with occasional hybrid homeworking and site visits; a full UK driving licence is essential. You will undertake training and participate in incident response duties as part of working for the Environment Agency.
