Overview

Residential Deputy Manager - Children\'s Home

Contract: Full Time, permanent
Salary: Base salary of £31,105.28 with the potential to earn up to £34,362.56 with sleep in shifts
Location: Wigton
Specific Hours: 42 hours per week - shift pattern on rotation

North Lakes Children\'s Services is a well-established local provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem and abilities of all the young people we work with. We currently have a Management opportunity at our 4-bedroom home in Carlisle. Can you inspire your team? Responsibilities

* Responsible for ensuring that the Statement of Purpose is in place and reflects the needs of the young people and outlines qualifications, experience and expertise of the staff employed within the home.
* Ensure a full flow of information into and out of the team and develop effective communication strategies and systems to assist staff in their duties.
* Responsible for the effective management and development of a range of quality direct services to young people.
* Ensure that the policies and procedures of North Lakes Children\'s Services are implemented.
* Ensure that staff training and development needs are identified and met, and assist in training staff as required.
* Ensure that all Health and Safety Regulations are complied with in accordance with North Lakes Children\'s Services policies, procedures and practices.
* Regularly inspect the condition of the building to ensure that equipment, furnishings and fittings are in good working order and maintained to a reasonable standard.
* Ensure that effective finance budgets, administration and records comply with North Lakes Children\'s Services expectations and procedures.
* Promote and implement the company\'s Equality and Diversity policies and ensure staff understand and implement the company\'s Child Protection Procedures.
* Quality Assurance: set, monitor and evaluate standards at individual, team and service levels.
* Communication: establish and manage the team communications systems to ensure company procedures, policies, strategies and objectives are communicated to all team members.
* Professional Practice: ensure professional practice in the team is carried out to high standards and developed in line with the company\'s objectives for continual improvement in quality of service.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Understanding of the issues that face young people in care
* Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People\'s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Be willing to learn and work well as part of a small team
* Willing to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position (paid by the employer)
* Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work would be advantageous
* Full, clean UK driving licence and ability to cover at other Residential Homes as needed
