Overview
Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Information Engineering) at the University of Oxford, Department of Engineering Science. The successful candidate will conduct original research in Information Engineering and its applications, and contribute to teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels. The appointment includes a Tutorial Fellowship at Somerville College, with a combined University and College salary and benefits.
Responsibilities
* Conduct original research in Information Engineering and its applications across fields including, for example, physics-informed machine learning and AI, computer vision, graphics, optimisation, networks, and robotics.
* Engage across a diverse set of disciplines under the Information Engineering umbrella.
* Teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering Science, including lectures, classes, laboratories, and supervision of design and project work; provide tutorial teaching and pastoral care at Somerville College.
* Contribute to the department’s research portfolio in information engineering and seek external funding to develop a new independent research program.
* Collaborate with colleagues and participate in governance and college activities as a Somerville College trustee and contributor to college governance.
* Engage with recruitment and engagement activities as part of the department.
Qualifications
* PhD in information engineering or a cognate discipline.
* Proven research track record with peer-reviewed publications and collaborations.
* Relevant teaching experience and the ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and graduate levels; excellent interpersonal skills for tutorial teaching.
Appointment details
* Position: Associate Professor of Engineering Science (Information Engineering).
* Location: Department of Engineering Science, Central Oxford, OX1 3EJ.
* Salary: combined University and College salary scale currently from £55,766 to £74,867 per annum plus additional benefits, including a housing allowance of £12,642 p.a.
* Tenure: initially five years with a successful review leading to potential reappointment to retirement age.
* Additional: Tutorial Fellowship at Somerville College; housing and travel support during interview process within policy limits.
