About The Role

Join our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) and play a vital part in improving the emotional wellbeing of children and young people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. As a Band 5 Educational Mental Health Practitioner or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner you will deliver evidence‑based early interventions using a Low‑Intensity CBT approach, supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs in schools and colleges. Working closely with education staff, you will help develop whole‑school approaches to mental health and ensure children can access the right help at the right time. We currently have vacancies across Harborough, Loughborough, Charnwood, Leicester city, Oadby & Wigston, and Hinckley, giving you the opportunity to work directly within local communities. You will receive robust clinical supervision, be part of an inclusive multidisciplinary team, and benefit from strong professional development opportunities within a service guided by the THRIVE framework.

If you’re ready to bring your passion, skills, and commitment to this role, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now and help make a difference to children and young people’s futures.

A full UK driving licence and access to a car during working hours are required.

Job Description Summary (Main Duties And Responsibilities)

Please see Job Description and Person Specification below.

About You

We welcome applications from qualified and registered EMHPs as well as qualified and registered CWPs. You will have completed a CYPIAPT accredited programme and hold valid registration with the appropriate psychological professional body. You will bring experience in delivering evidence‑based interventions for children, young people and families, along with the ability to assess need, manage risk and maintain high‑quality clinical records. Strong communication, resilience, and a commitment to safeguarding are essential, as is the confidence to work within busy education settings. You will be organised, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with school staff, external agencies and families. The role involves travel between education settings across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, so the ability to meet this requirement is important. If you are passionate about early intervention and making a meaningful difference, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Registration Requirement

Please apply only if you have successfully completed your EMHP/CWP course and are just waiting for your registration with BABCP/BPS to come through.

Candidates who do not hold a valid registration but who have successfully completed their EMHP/CWP course and have evidence of this can apply for this post. If successful, candidates without a professional registration will be employed on a fixed‑term (3 month) contract at the trainee Band (band 4) whilst they apply for their registration.

We may close the advert early, if we receive a sufficient number of applicants, so please apply as soon as possible.
