Overview
Research Fellow in Biomedical Sciences / Neuroscience – University of Leeds
We invite applications for a post-doctoral researcher position in the Lukacs lab, funded by the Wellcome Trust. The post is located within the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Leeds, and is part of the Neur@Leeds Research Collective. The successful candidate will join an exciting project exploring the physiological role of newly identified sensory receptor molecules. Using a combination of animal models, fluorescent imaging, and electrophysiology, the candidate will explore the cellular and organism-level function of these new receptor proteins. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art genome engineering, molecular biology, and high-throughput tools to drive discovery and characterisation of new molecular targets.
Responsibilities
* Design and perform experiments using animal models, imaging, and electrophysiology to investigate sensory receptor proteins.
* Collaborate with the Lukacs lab team to advance understanding of receptor function at cellular and organism levels.
* Utilise genome engineering, molecular biology, and high-throughput techniques to identify and characterise new molecular targets.
Qualifications
* PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience, or a closely related field.
* Experience in neuroscience research, with a background in imaging, electrophysiology, and molecular biology desirable.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a dynamic research environment.
What We Offer
* 26 days holiday plus approximately 16 bank holidays (42 days per year).
* Generous pension scheme plus life assurance; University contributions of 14.5% of salary.
* On-site health and wellbeing facilities and access to staff development courses.
* Support for flexible working arrangements and job sharing where possible.
* On-site childcare, shopping discounts, and travel schemes are available.
Visa and Eligibility
The post may be suitable for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route, with salary concessions potentially required for first-time applicants. For more information, see www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa. For research and academic posts, eligibility under the Global Talent visa may also be considered (https://www.gov.uk/global-talent).
