About The Role
The Cairndale Hotel & Spa is seeking a highly organised and hands-on Kitchen Supervisor to lead our kitchen porter team and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety and operational efficiency within our busy kitchen environment. This is a pivotal role within the brigade. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen support function — from cleanliness and stock control to food rotation and hygiene compliance — enabling our chefs to operate at the highest level. We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in standards, thrives on structure and organisation, and leads by example.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
· Lead, supervise and motivate a small team of Kitchen Porters
· Organise daily duties and rota allocation
· Provide on-the-job training and maintain performance standards
· Ensure a positive, productive and professional working environment
Kitchen Operations
· Oversee cleaning schedules and ensure strict adherence
· Maintain spotless kitchen floors, surfaces, equipment and storage areas
· Supervise dishwashing and pot wash operations
· Ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained and stored correctly
Food Safety & Compliance
· Ensure full compliance with Food Safety and HACCP procedures
· Monitor food storage, date labelling and stock rotation (FIFO)
· Carry out daily temperature checks and hygiene audits
· Maintain accurate cleaning and compliance records
· Support Environmental Health inspections
Stock & Organisation
· Check and monitor cleaning stock levels
· Report maintenance issues promptly
· Ensure deliveries are stored safely and correctly
· Maintain an organised and efficient storage system
What We're Looking For
· Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment (essential)
· Experience as a Kitchen Porter (essential)
· Previous supervisory or team leadership experience (desirable)
· Strong understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
· Exceptional attention to detail
· A proactive, hands-on approach
· Ability to work split shifts and weekends
· Calm under pressure with strong organisational skills
