An established accounting practise in South West London is seeking a highly organised and proactive Practise Manager. This position is ideal for an experienced practise manager or a trainee accountant with a mature, professional outlook who is pursuing an accounting qualification.
This is a broad and hands-on role at the heart of the practice, covering client services, finance administration, HR, and general operations. The successful candidate will play a key part in supporting both internal team efficiency and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
* Banking & Finance Admin: Monitor daily banking transactions (including client money), process payments/receipts, and reconcile accounts.
* Bookkeeping: Maintain financial records using Sage Accounting and Excel; submit quarterly VAT returns; assist with annual accounts.
* Client Billing: Produce invoices with detailed service narratives, manage debtor follow-ups, and handle client billing queries and payment plans.
* Time Tracking & Reporting: Manage the internal system for staff time tracking, generate reports, and support billing workflows.
* Payroll & HR Support: Run monthly payroll via Sage Payroll; support recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, contracts, and leave tracking; maintain CPD compliance for qualified staff.
* Business Operations: Coordinate insurance renewals, professional memberships, and third-party supplier contracts.
Skills & Attributes Required:
* Highly organised and numerate, with strong prioritisation and multitasking abilities.
* Clear, confident written and verbal communicator who builds strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Proactive and detail-oriented, with a drive to find practical solutions.
* Able to work independently with integrity and discretion, especially on sensitive matters.
* Technically proficient in Sage Accounts, Sage Payroll, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
* Quick to learn new systems and applications.
Ideal Background:
* Previous experience in office management, finance admin, or bookkeeping within a professional services environment.
* Alternatively, a trainee accountant with strong admin skills and a professional, mature approach.
