Virtuware Ltd is seeking a Mid‑Level Unity Developer to join our on‑site team in Manchester. You will work on StageTime—a free‑to‑play social VR and mobile platform launched on Meta Quest on January 30, 2025. Your role involves building and optimizing core features in Unity (C#) for seamless performance on VR (Quest 2) and mobile devices. Collaboration with developers and 3D artists is essential to contribute to a cutting-edge VR social interaction product.
Responsibilities
* Design and implement gameplay systems, UI, and new features in Unity using C#.
* Integrate OpenXR and XR Interaction Toolkit for hand-tracking, input management, and cross-platform support.
* Profile and optimize CPU/GPU/memory usage for Quest 2 and mid-range Android/iOS devices.
* Implement and maintain multiplayer/social features using Photon Fusion, PlayFab, and Meta Platform services.
* Write clean, well-documented code; participate in code reviews; contribute to CI/CD pipelines and Unity tooling.
* Triage and fix platform-specific bugs; support test case reproduction.
Requirements
* 3+ years of professional Unity3D development in C#, with at least one shipped VR (Meta Quest/OpenXR) or mobile title.
* Showcase of VR/mobile projects demonstrating technical contributions and optimizations (mandatory portfolio).
* Ability to optimize for mobile hardware.
* Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
* Genuine passion for virtual reality, mobile experiences, and digital innovation.
Nice to Have
* Experience with DOTS/ECS or multithreading in Unity.
* Custom Shader Graph or HLSL shader development.
* Web development experience.
* Familiarity with CI/CD tools.
* Background in virtual performance, social VR, or similar immersive projects.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Games Design, or related field.
