The Major Programmes and Projects Army facing team is a fast-paced environment that supports both the future Army and the broader Defence capabilities of the country by providing a range of facilities for Service Personnel and their families across multiple MOD locations. By delivering sustainable infrastructure we also contribute towards the departmental goal of achieving net zero carbon. Team members work together to succeed! As our sites are distributed across the UK, a driving licence is advisable for many of these posts. Person specification A Project Manager at DIO will: Build and lead the team to deliver the agreed project outcomes Monitor delivery of benefits against the business case and ensure appropriate approvals and assurance plans are in place Identify and set appropriate project controls, tracking and reporting delivery against milestones and budgets Schedule and run project resources Manage project stakeholders and connect with partners at all levels Identify and monitor project risks and issues and ensure effective change management processes exist Provide key reports and support effective governance and decision making and control of projects and their place in a programme and Portfolio Desirable Experience & Skills A Project Management qualification such as APM or Prince 2 is desirable as is experience in construction or a similar environment. Allowances The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period. Employment Hours The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibility to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working and Part-time working patterns will be considered. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
