The Role:
You will provide steady support across Nursery and Reception so pupils with additional needs can access learning all day. You will set up and rotate continuous provision, prepare simple visuals and task boards, and keep areas tidy for independence. You will break activities into clear steps, use visual timetables and now/next prompts, and rehearse routines so transitions run smoothly. You will lead short adult-led tasks in phonics, early number, communication and fine motor skills, then link gains back into play. You will model clear language at children’s level, extend play with focused questions, and coach turn taking and sharing. You will record quick observations, update intervention trackers, and agree next actions with the class teacher and SENCO. You will follow behaviour and safeguarding procedures and support daily routines at drop-off, snack, outdoor learning and home time.
The Candidate & Requirements:
You are patient, organised and clear in your communication. You follow plans, spot triggers early and adjust calmly so children re-engage and grow independence.
* Degree, 2:2 or above in any subject.
* Communication, confident written and spoken English.
* Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
* Desire to work in education or with children, strong interest in EYFS, SEN and wellbeing.
* Experience working with children, relevant experience is desirable but not essential.
The School:
This Wolverhampton primary is multi-form entry with predictable EYFS routines from arrival to home time. Indoor and outdoor areas are well resourced with zones for role play, construction, small world, mark making and sensory exploration. Phonics runs daily with matched reading practice. Early maths follows small steps with practical models and frequent retrieval so methods stay consistent between classes. Inclusion is embedded through plan–do–review cycles, easy access to visual supports and regulation spaces, and regular check-ins with the SENCO. Teams co-plan and share activity cards, language prompts and observation sheets. New colleagues receive a structured induction, weekly bite-size CPD and short coaching drop-ins with precise, usable next moves.
