We have an exciting opportunity for you to be a key member of our forestry team as a Forester or Assistant Forest Manager, dependent on experience, based in our Brecon Office, covering South Wales.
The Position
Do you enjoy working outside and as part of a dynamic professional forestry team? The successful candidates will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of forestry management. To succeed in the role, competency is required in silviculture, business administration and communication, all of which must be delivered professionally. The role can be divided into the following primary functions, but is not limited to:
- Assist in overseeing the successful delivery of operational programmes to meet client objectives, compliant with health and safety, regulatory and environmental legislation
- Assist in the coordination and programming of crops establishment and maintenance.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments.
- Prepare site maps and relevant documentation
- Supervise on the ground operations
- Assist in leading and managing contractors
- Participate in the development of new business opportunities
Training and support will be provided to introduce the successful applicant to company systems and procedures. Further training is provided to allow the candidate to develop their role and specialisms within the business over time.
Qualification & Experience
- Proven knowledge and experience of practical forestry
- Proven understanding of upland and lowland silviculture, and thefull range of operations from new planting and restoking to clearfelling
- Academic qualifications in forestry / land based disciplines desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of the requirements of UKFS and UKWAS
- Professional membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters or another relevant professional body, or working towards is desirable.
