Overview of the job
This HQ role is based in the Custodial Contracts Directorate (CCD) and supports the effective assessment, reporting and management of Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) Service contractual delivery and performance. The role works within the Systems and Contact Management Assurance Team, part of the wider Governance & Risk Team, and reports to the Portfolio Manager. The position is non‑operational and does not involve line management responsibilities.
Responsibilities, Activities and Duties
* Contract‑management assurance: ensure quality assurance procedures, support contract managers, provide group reporting, coordinate internal and external audits, and develop the contract‑management control framework.
* Act as system administrator for the GRC system: manage user accounts, publish policies, maintain a policy review schedule, respond to queries via the team mailbox, and ensure secure access.
* Portfolio management: collate management information, complete gold contract scorecards, and address supplier issues.
* Office management and administration: support meetings, minuting, statistical performance data, and ad‑hoc reporting.
* Represent the team at meetings and events, briefing the team on outcomes and ensuring action points are delegated or acted upon.

Essential Experience
* Good written and oral communication, and digital competence.
* Understanding of HMPPS strategic direction and ability to influence in a professional, diplomatic manner.
* Demonstrable experience of problem solving to deliver outcomes.
* Foundation level knowledge of public‑sector contracts and contractual obligations.
Ability
* Self‑motivation and ability to escalog challenges for successful outcomes.

* Competence with Excel, including use of charts, and experience with management information.
