Overview
Product Safety Engineer at BAE Systems. Location: Glascoed, South Wales (Hybrid). Contract: 12 months, 37 hours per week. Hourly Rate: £53.90 Umbrella (Inside IR35). Security Clearance: BPSS + SC in flight.
About the Role: BAE Systems Land (UK) is seeking a Product Safety Engineer to support our engineering team in delivering safe, compliant products within the defence sector. You will play a key role in ensuring product safety through hazard identification, risk assessment, and compliance with MOD safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain Safety & Environmental Case (SEC) documentation.
* Create and manage Product Hazard Logs.
* Conduct safety reviews of engineering designs to ensure alignment with internal frameworks and MOD safety standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME).
* Support project teams with safety-related input for bids and designs.
* Perform hazard analysis techniques including FMEA and FTA.
* Contribute to the delivery of conforming, safe products.
Skills & Experience
* Experience with the engineering lifecycle.
* Familiarity with UK MOD standards (Def Stan 00-056, DSA 03.OME).
* Demonstrated ability to produce technical safety reports and ALARP arguments.
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical safety information to varied audiences.
