We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director to work at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke. The role involves providing senior medical cover on Knightstone Ward, a 15-bed highly specialised service for women with personality disorder and complex needs.
The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing the care of all ward inpatients and ensuring quality medical services in accordance with GMC standards and other professional guidelines.
In addition to being the Responsible Clinician at Knightstone Ward, you will serve as the Medical Director at Cygnet Hospital Kewstoke, a 71-bed hospital offering emergency admissions and rehabilitation services for men and women, including a specialist service for personality disorder.
This is a full-time position with 0.2 WTE as Medical Director and 0.8 WTE as Consultant Psychiatrist.
The hospital features over 16 acres of landscaped grounds overlooking the Bristol Channel, providing a peaceful, therapeutic environment with therapies such as CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR & DBT.

Main duties and Responsibilities
As a Medical Director, you will:
* Ensure optimal clinical outcomes for patients
* Lead clinical practice and exemplify operational excellence
* Provide leadership and monitor performance of medical staff
* Supervise all consultants and ensure proper supervision of SDs and ASs
* Support the team with expert knowledge
* Maintain quality and compliance with standards and regulations
* Promote integrated, whole-person care
* Coach, mentor, and train colleagues
* Facilitate communication and meetings with medical staff
* Assist in recruitment and retention of medical staff
* Involve medical staff in hospital governance
* Collaborate on CQC compliance and outcomes
* Chair medical advisory meetings and participate in regional meetings
* Coordinate with the Responsible Officer and Regional Medical Director regarding fitness to practice concerns

* Be responsible for patient treatment plans with the multidisciplinary team
* Assess referrals and conduct mental state examinations
* Perform investigations, diagnosis, and treatment

* Liaise with the Ministry of Justice for patient transfers and leave approvals
