What is the purpose of this job?
We are looking for a SEO Executive to join our digital product team where you will provide search performance, technical, and content reporting and analysis for Rail Delivery Group’s (RDG) digital online products.
The role will cover the websites Railcards, Days Out Guide, and National Rail Enquiries (NRE).
This role will be an important part in assisting the SEO Manager to expand the strategic function of SEO, and in line with the RDG project delivery framework and the overall business objectives to build on and consolidate NRE’s role in the transport industry.
We are looking for an SEO all-rounder. As well as performing the day-to-day operation of SEO such as testing, auditing, identifying crawl and indexing errors, making fix recommendations, updating content, you will also provide keyword and topic research, and reporting.
The candidate will gain experience across a broad range of digital projects that will build on their knowledge and capability.
What is NRE?
National Rail Enquiries (NRE), which includes nationalrail.co.uk on desktop and mobile and app, is the only independently operating national source of rail information in the UK. NRE also includes several other products: railcards.co.uk and daysoutguide.co.uk. NRE attracts hundreds of millions of sessions a year and is a strategic enabler to Train Operating businesses by providing comprehensive, impartial journey planning and national rail information, and providing a vital source of live train running information to customers and staff.
The business strategic objective is to optimise products and build on their futures as leading sources of rail information and journey planning to millions of passengers in Great Britain.
What can I expect to do in this job?
This isn't an exhaustive list, but things you can expect to be involved with include:
1. Working with the SEO Manager and Product Managers to implement optimisations.
2. Monitor, assess, and report on organic search performance data.
3. Support and maintain internal SEO reporting and data.
4. Support the site(s) content and technical SEO projects.
5. Liaise with the digital, publishing, and marketing & propositions teams for campaign assistance across owned channels.
6. Work collaboratively with content editors and provide insights which help drive further content development decisions.
7. Continuously look to find tactical incremental gains to drive SEO traffic across our websites.
8. Assist with SEO audits of our sites.
9. Competitor research to identify content gaps.
10. Keep up to date with SEO industry change.
* We are looking for someone with experience (1+ years) in a similar digital role either client or agency side.

* Technical SEO and Content Optimisation
* Content topic research and analysis (keyword and intent)
* Effective stakeholder management skills and a good communicator
* Collaborative working
* Knowledge of developments within SEO eco-system
* Knowledge of tools including Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Google & Bing Search Console etc.
* Experience of content management systems
* Previous experience in the following (Desirable):
* Knowledge of sprint management and JIRA
