Overview:
The Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Outcomes plays a pivotal role in shaping the academic direction of the school. This position focuses on designing, implementing, and evaluating a high-quality, inclusive curriculum that drives excellent teaching, learning, and student achievement across all key stages.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the strategic development, implementation, and evaluation of the whole-school curriculum to ensure coherence, progression, and breadth.
* Use performance data and assessment information to monitor student progress, identify trends, and implement targeted interventions to raise attainment.
* Work closely with subject leaders to ensure curriculum intent, implementation, and impact are consistently strong across all departments.
* Promote excellence in teaching and learning through staff development, coaching, and sharing of best practice.
* Lead on curriculum mapping, assessment design, and reporting systems to ensure alignment with school priorities and national frameworks.
* Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to set ambitious academic standards and secure consistently high outcomes for all learners.
* Support staff in using data effectively to inform planning, differentiation, and personalised learning.
* Ensure that the curriculum promotes inclusion, aspiration, and prepares students for future education and employment pathways.
* Contribute to whole-school leadership, policy development, and culture of continuous improvement.
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and substantial experience in curriculum leadership or middle management.
* Strong understanding of curriculum design, assessment, and data-driven improvement.
* Proven ability to raise standards of teaching, learning, and achievement.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
* Committed to fostering a culture of high expectations, equity, and academic excellence.
* The role is suitable for experienced senior leaders or strong middle leaders with outstanding experience leading a department whilst improving department grades.
