Being a Construction Planner (Airfields and Civils) at London Gatwick, you'll see the impact your work has on the airport's landscape and passengers. This role offers unique insight and a central position in providing comprehensive planning services for supported projects.
From facilities expansion to security upgrades and runway resurfacing, no two days are the same. The variety of projects and the live environment will keep you challenged and learning.
To support your growth, you'll be provided with the necessary development opportunities. London Gatwick's Construction Department includes several programme and project teams and technical support functions. It is responsible for delivering the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next five years, encompassing campus-wide projects to deliver critical infrastructure.
What is the role?
London Gatwick is evolving rapidly, and this is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a high-performing team shaping Gatwick's future infrastructure.
The Planner will operate across all project stages, managing projects up to approximately £50m in value, providing a full planning service. Responsibilities include schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, recovery plan development, and providing technical support such as Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure, and Resource Loading.
What will you do?
* Develop and maintain a robust delivery schedule with milestones and monitoring activities, coordinating work sequences with the overall project plan.
* Monitor schedules, identify critical activities, and update functions for specific disciplines or specialties.
* Apply installation rates to quantities, review contractor schedules, and provide recommendations.
* Evaluate quantities, staffing, and schedule logic; prepare progress and performance reports.
* Assess contract programmes, accept/reject assessments, delay analysis, and evaluate compensation events.
* Review quantity logs and assist in developing job hour expenditure for projects.
* Analyze contractor schedules against baseline, identifying critical path activities and variances.
Do you have what we are looking for?
* Degree or Post-Grad in construction or related field.
* Typically three years' planning experience on projects over £10m.
* Proficiency with Primavera P6 and MS Excel.
* Experience in infrastructure projects within operational environments is desirable.
* Skills in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
* Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
* Knowledge of financial and engineering reports.
* Understanding of NEC contracts.
* Strong communication skills.
* Awareness of airport environment is a plus.
* Resilience and adaptability in ambiguous situations.
