Overview
Senior Clinical Psychologist (Development Post) – BCUHB Older Adult Clinical Psychology Service. Suitable qualified and experienced band 8a Clinical Psychologist, or band 7 Clinical Psychologist as part of a fully supported development post. The post is based in Flintshire (Wepre House, Connah's Quay).
Main duties of the job
This permanent 8a or band 7 development post provides specialist clinical input and support to both the Memory Assessment Service MDT and the Older People’s Community Mental Health Team (OPMH CMHT). For a band 7 development post, progression to band 8a is possible once competencies for band 8a level are demonstrated. The role involves delivering tailored individual and group psychological therapies to an Older Adult population, undertaking specialist neuropsychological assessment and formulation, and pre- and post-diagnostic support and intervention. The post holder will train, supervise and provide formulation work, and will work with multi-disciplinary teams, attending MDT meetings, team referral meetings and service-wide meetings. Strong teamwork and commitment are essential.
The post offers cross-specialty links across North Wales with opportunities for research and clinical networking across North Wales and All Wales. The North Wales region provides attractive quality of life with access to outdoor activities and proximity to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Honours Degree in Psychology
* Eligibility for Graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
* Post-graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or overseas), accreditation by the British Psychological Society
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
* Pre-qualification training/qualifications in research methodology, staff training or other fields of applied psychology
Experience
Essential criteria
* Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist with post-qualification experience in the designated specialty; or relevant transferable skills
* Demonstrated specialist training/experience with clinical supervision of a clinical psychologist role (or an agreed alternative by the Head of Clinical Psychology Services)
Desirable criteria
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
