Technical Compliance Officer
Reports To: Site Technical Manager
Location: West Sussex
Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Overview
An established business within the food production sector is seeking a Technical Compliance Officer to support the delivery of safe, legal, and high-quality products. This role works closely with both internal departments and external partners to maintain compliance with industry, customer, and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to food safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure products meet food safety, quality, and legal compliance requirements, including recognised industry and customer standards
* Maintain and improve the internal audit programme across operational areas
* Investigate non-conformances, implement corrective actions, and support root cause analysis
* Coordinate pest control activities alongside external service providers
* Support technical projects, documentation, and compliance initiatives
* Contribute to HACCP and other food safety working groups
* Assist in maintaining and developing the food safety and quality management systems
* Promote and uphold hygiene standards across operational areas
* Supervise and support a small operational team
* Produce KPI reports and compliance documentation within agreed deadlines
* Ensure accurate technical and compliance records are maintained
* Deliver or support internal training where required
* Follow all company health and safety procedures and risk assessment requirements
Experience & Qualifications
* Previous experience within a technical compliance or food safety role in the food or fresh produce industry
* Knowledge of food safety standards and auditing processes
* HACCP and Food Safety qualifications preferred
* Internal auditing experience desirable
* Understanding of BRCGS and retailer compliance standards advantageous
* Experience in customer-facing technical roles beneficial
* Relevant degree or equivalent qualification desirable
