Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: As a Bid Manager, you will lead the preparation and submission of compelling bids that align with our strategic goals, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure proposals are competitive and showcase our unique value proposition.
* Risk Management: As a gatekeeper for tender submission, you will ensure business risks are considered in commercial and technical submissions, coordinating and collaborating with key stakeholders.
* Project Management: You will oversee the entire bid process from inception to completion, ensuring timelines are met and quality standards are upheld, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with technical experts, sales teams, and clients to gather insights and tailor bids to meet specific needs and expectations.
* Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve our bid processes and outcomes, leveraging the latest industry trends and technologies.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience with commercial tendering, preferably in a relevant industry. Public procurement experience desirable.
* Capable of coordinating bid activity and input from a virtual cross-business team.
* Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to follow business administrative processes and procedures.
* Ability to work under pressure to tight timescales.
* Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Microsoft Word and Excel.
* Experience handling financial data and understanding of cost models.
* Awareness of engineering consultancy services is an advantage.
* Ability to handle and process large amounts of spreadsheet data.
* Understanding of Quality and IT systems or capability to assimilate these systems, including SharePoint.
* Proficiency in low-level programming or scripting to automate workload, including processing of documents and numbers from customers or suppliers.
