We are seeking a skilled Composite Manufacturing Technician to support the manufacturing, assembly and integration of advanced fibre-based components.
You will play a key role in ensuring hardware is manufactured, assembled and documented to meet strict quality and process standards required for spaceflight programmes.
Composite Manufacturing Technician Responsibilities:
* Manufacture fibre-based composite components including carbon fibre, glass fibre and aramid fibre materials
* Perform material layup, resin impregnation and curing processes including VARTM and autoclave methods
* Carry out composite trimming, finishing and post-processing activities
* Manufacture tooling and moulds used in composite production
* Support the assembly and integration of R&D and flight hardware
* Assist with the creation and maintenance of Manufacturing Assembly Procedures (MAPs)
* Maintain strong adherence to internal manufacturing and quality processes
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations
* Assist Project Product Assurance Managers in defining and qualifying MAIT processes
* Support internal and customer technical reviews
* Occasionally visit suppliers or subcontractors where required
* Work flexibly to support programme schedules when required
Composite Manufacturing Technician Skills:
* Strong background in precision engineering assembly
* Demonstrable experience in composite manufacturing
* Knowledge of composite materials, layup and curing processes
* Experience working from manufacturing assembly procedures
* Ability to carry out composite trimming and finishing
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances and materials
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
* Logical, pragmatic problem-solving approach
* Strong organisation and task management skills
* Ability to work independently and within a collaborative engineering team
Desirable Experience:
* Mechanical apprenticeship or engineering qualification
